Today’s practice is about orienting. I learned this practice for coming into more safety, more "hereness"…from my mentor and teacher, Dr. Arielle Schwartz.
When we use our external environment to slow down, sense, and simply take in the small safety anchors (so often skipped and sped past in states of stress and survival), we can take that “inside” to our inner space for some ground of safety in the present moment. Not ahead in the future or in the past, simply being here with what is…which gives us the most solid and certain ground with which to go forward and meet our life experiences. Orienting can be introduced into your day as you move into different environments, transition between tasks, or come out of a fast frenzy into a more intentional way of being.
Try this practice out and write or reflect on any feedback you get in breathe, in attention, in emotions, in sensation, in energy. There is no right or wrong, rather, just what can be noticed about what it is like now…
